Can The Wifi Card On This Laptop Be Upgraded To Be Dual Channel 2.4 And 5 Ghz?

This laptop's wifi card only handles 2.4 GHz. I'd like to swap this card out and replace it with a dual channel card that handles both 2.4 and 5 GHz. Will this laptop's BIOS handle dual channel wifi if the new card will fit? Thanks.

I am having trouble finding a dual band wifi card that will fit the Toshiba Satellite S55 A5197 laptop. The laptop has two antenna connections. The replacement card needs to be a half height Mini PCI-E, with the slot on the right hand side, and compatible with the BIOS of the laptop. The existing 2.4 wifi card is Realtek brand. Would staying with that brand enhance the chances that a replacement card of the same brand be more likely to work? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. LRV

Providing you obtain the same size card as fitted there is no reason you should not be able to fit an upgrade. This is a link to the user guide for your laptop:

Make sure you obtain the correct driver for the card before changing it as if you need wi-fi after installing and it needs the driver then it could prove difficult. I have updated quite a few of my laptops to newer cards even added bluetooth. Check whether yours has bluetooth as well and make sure you obtain one that has both. If yours has a separate bluetooth then there is no problem.

Hope that answers your question.
