How Do You Know If You Are In The Airplane Mode On Toshiba Model C855-s5350?

For the last couple of weeks, I've been having spotty reception with my wireless laptop, all the while my wife has not. We have a very strong signal, so that should not be the problem. If my memory serve me corectly, when I use to hit the 'WiFi' button on my Toshiba C855-S5250, an airplane would show up somewhere on my screen as a small icon. I can't seem to find it anywhere anymore. Where should it be located? I thought it was below along with the battery icon, signal strenght, volume control. I believe my laptop is stuck in the airplane mode, and is not showing the airplane icon. What's your thought before I bring it in for repair?
