Playing European Region 2 Dvds In Toshiba Bdx1250ku

I have a Toshiba Blu-Ray Region Free Disc Player model BDX1250KU--the device plays Region 1 DVDs and Blu-Ray discs fine, but will not play ANY Region 2 DVD at all.  I've tried everything the manual says to do without any success.  How can I play a Region 2 Disc in this player, as advertised?
