My 55G300 appears to turn on, the green light comes on and stays on, the toshiba emblem comes on and stays on, the panel lights up for a split second, then goes dark, and no input/volume/menu are displayed. All capacitors look good.any ideas?

This is likely either one of the inverters or one of the florescent lamps (inside the LCD panel) that has failed. Put the set in a very dark room and turn it on (many times as necessary) and watch the back lighting for a darker area in the screen (horizontal bar). This is the lamp that has not lit, now a tech can see if the inverter section is trying to light that lamp or not. This will determine if a board is going to fix it, or an entire LCD panel is required.
I assume you have audio (if you can find the right input), in that dark room you can shine a very bright flashlight into the screen and see that the video is present, but just too dark to see.
