Thermador Microwave Mbbs Sparking In Unit.

I have a thermador microwave that is 7 years old and has started to spark inside when heating food. A repairman told me the behind the side cover inside the unit the protective paint has worn causing some metal to be exposed and the sparking. The repair man said it could not be prepared. Since this wear is behind the square plate inside the unit where the tube is 1) can it be fixed, 2) is it a product defect since is has nothing to do with misuse or 3) will Themador replace the unit?

The unit comes with 2 years limited warranty from the date of purchase - this means that all repairs will be payable from the end of the 2nd year. While yes the issue can be repaired, there may be parts scarcity seeing the unit a quite classic.
