Lg Optimus Showtime And Memory Card. My Phone Will Not Read My Sd Card 16g.

My phone is saying insert an sd card but there is one in there. sometimes it has problems reading it. i dont know what to do. can you please help me?! i dont wanna lose any of my music or photos or texts!
