My Sony Kdf55wf655 Has A Big Discolored Hole In The Center Of The Screen. What?

My Sony KDF55WF655 has a big discolored hole in center of screen.  I just replaced bulb assembly today with genuine Sony (Phillips) bulb.  Also installed new thermal fuse.  Sadly the hole on the screen is still there!!!  Anything else I can do to fix???  Thanks for any advice!  Brent

this is a normal failure on any brand of LCD projection after many hours of usage. There are three LCD panels in the optical engine, one for each of the three primary colors (red, green and blue). The white light from the lamp is separated with filter and each color is passed through it's LCD panel with that colors portion of the picture with associated polarized plates, mirrors, and lenses. The three colors are recombined through a prism and passed through a the lens and bounced off the large mirror to the back of the screen assembly. Since people have a hard time seeing the color blue this path has lenses to intensify it, but as a result it causes extra heat that destroys the polarized plates and LCD panel. This staops the blue from working and that part will look yellowish. The repair requires a new optical engine and this is too expensive (and if you replace it the new one will fail too)
