Problem With Hard Drive

I'm using AVEI DVR equipment Raid 5, using 1tb harddrives, but I star buying 1.5 tb hard drives and have a lot of problems when I get a raid and change the hard drive from 1tb to 1.5tb to accept the new hard drive. It there is something or a difference on this hard drive other then more memory.
