Charging Port Cover

Charging port cover came off on my Samsung S5 that I have had about 9mths. I took it to the att store where purchased and the said other customers have had the same problem and the only way they will replace this port cover is for me to pay my insurance deductable of $100. Since others have had this same mechanical problem why shouldn't this be a default claim? I'm 65 and not an abuser like some teenager who is careless. Every thing else is with out any damage, scratches dents. I am on Att next plan and was going to up to the new S6 and they said I would not get the $300 credit with this port missing. Should not Samsung replace this phone at no charget when the port cover should be able to withstand opening as often as it is used without coming off and the customer getting stuck for their default in the products normal use?

Unfortunately it's their warranty policy and it's completely up to them if this is covered under the warranty or not. Physical damage such as this is usually considered "accidental damage" and not covered under the standard warranty.
