My Samsung Lcd Tv Shows A Light Patch On The Left Side Of The Screen

Sometimes my TV shows a vertical stripe about six inches wide down the left side of the screen. The stripe is somewhat transparent, but the coloring is lighter that the rest of the screen. Sometimes it has horizontal lines in it.

The light patch was a vertical strip about 6 inches wide on the left side of the screen. It progressed to become a completely black patch, which eventually covered half of the screen. We could eliminate the black patch by lightly tapping the frame (Not the screen) on the left side, but that doesn't work any more. A repair shop said that we would have to replace the entire panel. Replacing the TV would be cheaper. I a not happy with this.

...your LCD TV for more than Plasma TVs, LCD TVs are still subject to 4:3, and have black bars, black borders, etc. Avoid keeping a on after about twenty minutes, or set to screen burn...screen burn in (image retention). Make sure you have black borders on the top and bottom, or on other things for a minute or two every couple of hours, say during commercials or in between shows...
