Samsung 390G is a Tracfone.Tracfone 3G4GLTE Coverage & PerformanceAbout the Tracfone Wireless and Internet

TracFone® is a prepaid cell phone service provider, offering service to people in certain areas of the United States, though coverage is available nationwide. TracFone does not offer contract phones. It also owns brands such as Net10® and Straight Talk®. It does not have its own network, and instead operates as a virtual network operator, by purchasing network space from the four top carriers: Sprint®, T-Mobile®, Verizon®, and AT&T®.

Data Services Available from Tracfone

TracFone offers 3G and 4G LTE data services. Because they lease network space from the leading providers, TracFone offers both CDMA coverage and GSM coverage[+]. CDMA networks include: Verizon Wireless, Sprint, MetroPCS®, Cricket®, and U.S. Cellular®. GSM networks include: AT&T and T-Mobile. Though both networks offer a considerable amount of nationwide coverage, CDMA coverage is a bit better than the GSM coverage.

  • 3G:3G coverage is available nationwide through all the networks TracFone uses. There are some dead spots for all of the networks but those are typically in less densely populated areas.
  • 4G:TracFone only offers 4G LTE coverage.
  • LTE:Your 4G LTE network coverage will vary depending on what network your phone is homed to. Most often, this is Sprint, and there is a decent amount of coverage. If you do not have a 4G LTE compatible device, you will not be able to use this technology-you will connect with 3G.
  • WiMax:TracFone does not provide WiMax coverage.
  • Wi-Fi:TracFone does not provide customers with their own hotspots throughout the network, but you can use a Wi-Fi compatible phone to connect to any Wi-Fi network that you have access to. You'll need passwords for any secured networks, though you can connect to any open network in the country within your range.
Special Considerations for 3G4GLTE Coverage with Tracfone

The coverage you will get is dependent on the network your phone is homed to[+]. The network your phone is homed to will largely depend on where you buy it, and the location where your service is to be established. TracFone phones tend to be "homed" on the Sprint network first, followed by T-Mobile, then Verizon, and AT&T as a last resort. Therefore, to determine if coverage is available in your area, it is best to check the Sprint coverage in your area before deciding which phone to purchase. However, you should keep in mind that coverage maps are only meant to serve as an estimate of where coverage will be, not as a guarantee of service availability.
