I Have A 40' Samsung Led Tv That Just Went 'kaputski' On Me While I Was Watching

Is this kind of defect under manufacturer warranty?. Unfortunately, I didn't buy extended warranty with the BestBuy when I purchased the TV there, because I believed that Samsung makes a quality product. What option do I have? I heard that sometimes Samsung exchange the TV , if you actually take the TV to their customer service center, but where is it in Los Angeles?
