Try taking the drive out. You may need something like a thin paint scraper to release the plastic links. Then obtain a SATA adapter cable and try again. It may be that the interface has failed. There are numerous diagnostics available. 'Disk Genius' is one. That can run diagnostics on your hard drive and repair errors. That is free with limitations. Changing the motherboard (control panel) of the hard drive will not work as each board is uniquely configured to the drive.
Hope that gives you an idea of what path to take.
