Installing The Roku

I followed the directions enclosed with the player, but do not get anything on the TV.  We have cable, but NOT a HD flatscreen TV.  Can we use this player? If so, what am I doing wrong.  Should I disconnect my VCR/DVD player from the mix?  Nothing shows on the TV pertaining to the Roku player.  (I'm using the Belkin N300 share wireless router)  HELP!!

i SOLVED THE PROBLEM BY CONNECTING THE ROKU PLAYER TO THE VCR/DVD INSTEAD OF THE TV AND THEN WENT THROUGH THE CHANNELS UNTIL I FOUND THE ROKU LOGO.
