I understand your frustration with the previous blood draw experience and your need for lab work before your oncologist appointment. Here's how you can address your concerns:

Request Supervisor Assistance:

Call the lab or clinic directly: When rescheduling your appointment for January 16th, explicitly request to speak with a supervisor or experienced phlebotomist. Explain the difficulties encountered during the previous attempt, including vein rolling and slow blood flow.

State your need for assistance: Clearly mention that you would appreciate a supervisor or experienced phlebotomist present during your next blood draw to ensure its success and avoid unnecessary discomfort.

Be firm but polite: Remain respectful and understanding while emphasizing the importance of this test for your upcoming oncologist appointment.

Alternative Measures:

Hydration: As suggested before, ensure you're well-hydrated before your appointment. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, and avoid caffeine and alcohol for at least 24 hours beforehand.

Warm Compress: Applying a warm compress to your arms for a few minutes before the blood draw can help dilate your veins and make them easier to access.

Inform the Phlebotomist: Upon arrival, remind the phlebotomist about your previous difficulties and any veins that have historically worked well for blood draws.

Additional Tips:

Document your experience: Write down a detailed account of the previous blood draw, including the date, time, technician's name if possible, and the specific issues encountered. This information can be helpful in advocating for yourself during your upcoming appointment.

Consider alternatives: If your veins continue to be challenging, discuss alternative blood draw methods with your doctor or the lab supervisor. Options may include finger pricks or venous access devices.

Remember, your comfort and well-being are important. Don't hesitate to advocate for yourself and ensure you receive the necessary assistance for a successful blood draw.

I hope this information helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
