When using it makes a grinding noise. Metal shavings and what looks to be a greasy liguid underneath

Why is my elliptical making a grinding noise?

If an elliptical machine is making a lot of squeaking or grinding noises, that usually indicates the rails and wheels require lubrication, and if the pedal arms are stuck in place that indicates the bearings are probably frozen.
