I've researched your issue and come up with a few possible answers but only 1 cause for the error code 76.

Error 76 - Cooling fan has malfunctioned or stopped. Overheat threshold has been passed and the unit shuts down to keep from burning up the amplifier.

There are 4 possible causes that I can think of:
1) You have the unit in an enclosure that has no air vents. Heat builds up in the enclosure (TV Cabinet, Component Cabinet, etc.) until the temp threshold is crossed causing the unit to shut down.
2) Factory Defect in the Fan's power connection to the main board. (I saw many reports of this) This defect can cause the unit to overheat because the fan will just stop without warning. Unit overheats, etc....
3) Air flow to the fan has been blocked by not leaving enough space between the rear of the unit and a wall or other surfaces which decrease or completely block air from being pulled in to dissipate heat normally.
4) If you have pets, make sure the unit hasn't sucked in a couple pounds of Fido's fur and created this little issue for you. A thin covering of Cat hair covering the fan grill can cause airflow to drop dramatically! Don't overlook the obvious even if it doesn't look "that bad".

So there you go. It's a heat-related problem. Check the fans operation and make sure it's spinning, it's not blocked by anything, has free airflow around air intake and exhaust openings. If the fan isn't coming on at all, get on the phone to Tech Support and get the unit repaired, replaced or serviced. If you're beyond the warranty but handy with electronics, you might be able to fix the problem yourself.
Never do anything to a piece of equipment that is under warranty. Let the warranty work for you!

Hope this resolves the issue for you or pointed you down the correct path of action.
Keep me updated if you found this helpful or not!
Good Luck!
