Nn-p295 Vent Grille Opening

I have just installed our new microwave NN-P295, venting out the rear. Every time I turn the fan on the vent grill opens - is this normal or have a made a mistake in my attempt to rear-vent it? I'm worried the grille is opening because it thinks is it venting back through the unit.
