Gas Mileage Problems
i have 2004 alero that doesn't get good gas mileage. I have checked the fuel system its okay. Could it be the fuel pump?

A defective fuel pump would cause poor performance but it's unlikely it would create bad mileage.
Mileage can be affected by many factors such as:
- Tire pressure
- Tire alignment
- Dirty air filter
- Bad spark plugs
- Bad plug wires
- Defective smog system
What I would do is have a full tune up done by a reputable service shop then see how things go. At leat at that point you'll know it's not the issues noted above.
