Can't Open Firmware Installer After Download
I went to the netgear support website and I download the firmware for the WRN2000v3 wireless router but I can't open the file to begin the install. When I tell windows to use the internet to find appropriate program it shows me picture editing software because it thinks the file I downloaded is some sort of image file.

That's because the file you downloaded is not an installer. It's a firmware image you must install from the router configuration page. To do this, follow the steps below.
1. Open your web browser and type this address in the address bar: 192.168.1.1 and click go or press enter.
2. It will ask you for a username and password. Type "admin" for the username and "password" for the password. Note that this is the default username and password. If you have changed them then enter the correct username and password.
3. You should now be at the configuration page. Find a link that says "Router Upgrade" and click on it. It's most likely in the navigation bar to the left of the screen.
4. Once on the Router Upgrade page you should see a button that says "Browse", click on it. Find the file you download and select it.
5. Click "Upload" and wait for it to finish.
