Do I Have To Replace Tub If The Main Bearing Is Going Out?

I am being told that if the main bearing is going out that I have to replace the tub as well which makes this a very expensive repair. Maybe not worth it. I see listed on line for this machine the shaft and bearing and you tube videos doing just the bearing and not replacing the tub. Which is correct?
