I Have To Tap On The Gas Valve To Get The Oven To Work What Causes This

If tapping on the line is causing it to work it's time to replace it. Expect sticker shock for a replacement valve.
If you are comfortable doing things yourself, you could do this repair. Just remember to shut off the gas to the stove, and burn off whatever is left in the line, before working on it.
There is a tape that is used to seal the threads on a gas pipe... it is very much like the "teflon tape" you buy for plumbing (white), but this product made for gas lines is usually yellow in color...make sure you use this instead of the plumbers tape. If you're not comfortable working on a gas appliance, call in a serviceman.
