Why Is My Phone Not Ringing When A Call Come In?

When someone calls my number, if i am looking at the phone and I know that i am going to receive a call then i can answer the call. When the call comes in the phone is not ringing so if someone was calling with out me being aware, i would miss the call due to the fact that my phone is not ringing. The ringer is set on the phone at a loud volume.

magicJack suggests that you be sure your connecting phone cord [from the base unit to your magicJack] is no more than 6 feet long, and that your phone might be at fault. Fellow Help Owl volunteer USPinay has these additional ideas.

I had the same problem with MJ and tried various suggestions like, use short cord, reset the modem, reset MJ, use phones with REN<1. I also used two different phone brands, including Panasonic that resolved the issue for some people. None of these worked. MJ would sometimes (rarely) ring on the incoming calls, most of the time the incoming call would go straight to the voice mail.

Today my Internet provider sent a technician to resolve another issue.The technician replaced my modem and wireless router with a new wireless modem. For the first time in several months, MJ started ringing on all incoming calls.
