Microwave Continues To Run After Cycle Ends

After cycle ends and food is removed, I close the door. When I open it again, the microwave continues to run. There is no time left for it to do so. Unplugging the appliance for a few hours, then plugging it back in does not reset it. It has in the past but not now.
