Can't Get Usb Connection To Laptop For App Development Purposes?

When i connect my LG Optimus V (VM670) phone to my laptop via USB cable and set Application:Development settings to enable USB Debugging I can't "see" my phone from the laptop. It's been working fine up until today but it's no longer working. The USB cable is fine as it still charges the phone via USB just fine. Tested my laptop and it recognizes other Mobile phones with my USB cable. So it's not the cable. Re-downloaded USB drivers for my laptop...still it doesn't see my phone. Symptoms appear to point to the phone not communicating to the laptop. Thoughts? Anything I can do to "wake-up" my phone so it will communicate to my laptop. I tried rebooting the phone multiple times. I rebooted my laptop several times. Removed USB cable from Laptop and phone multiple times after each re-boot of phone/laptop...NO SUCCESS.
