How Do I Get My Laptop To Detect My Lg 800g Tracfone With Usb

You must have a micro SD card, 4G or less, installed in your phone before the interface can happen. The phone will not comunicate with your computer if no card in installed. Also if your card is larger than 4G the phone will ask if you wish to connect to the mass storage device, and your laptop may detect the drive, but, the laptop will ask you to install a card.
I learned this through trial and error.
