No Backlight Or Something
when i plug the tv in it has sound and I can almost see picture, like the backlight is not coming on or something. then it starts to smell really bad.

Verify that the unit is playing back an HD signal source. The best quality picture will be obtained using the HDMI or Component cable connections.
