404 Distwasher Instruction Are Bad

The operating instructions are so limited. Questions: What are the covers on the silverware caddy for and how/why do you use them? Why does it have a silverware area in the top rack that holds so few pieces? And what are "wash tubes"? Is that something for a different model? Nothing like that came with our machine. No idea what they are or what they are for. Thanks for your help!

I understand your frustration with the limited operating instructions for your KitchenAid 404 dishwasher. The covers on the silverware caddy are there to help protect your silverware from getting scratched or damaged. They also help to keep the silverware organized and prevent it from rattling around during the wash cycle. To use the covers, simply place them over the slots in the caddy and then load your silverware.

The silverware area in the top rack is designed to hold small, delicate silverware items, such as forks, knives, and spoons. It is not designed to hold larger items, such as serving utensils or large knives. If you have a lot of silverware, you may need to load some of it in the lower rack.

Wash tubes are not included with the KitchenAid 404 dishwasher. They are an optional accessory that can be purchased separately. Wash tubes are designed to help improve the cleaning performance of your dishwasher. They work by creating a vortex of water that helps to dislodge dirt and food particles from your dishes.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Here are some additional tips for using your KitchenAid 404 dishwasher:

Use a good quality dishwasher detergent.

Rinse your dishes before loading them into the dishwasher.

Overloading the dishwasher can reduce the cleaning performance.

Clean the filters regularly.

Descale the dishwasher periodically.

By following these tips, you can help to ensure that your KitchenAid 404 dishwasher provides years of reliable service.
