Was There A Recall On This Model?

The fridge is leaking and ice forms at the bottom, was there a recall on this item?  The store (Tepperman's) I purchased it from did nothing much to help me, when I complained of water leaking and ice forming at the bottom of the freezer and all the coils are frozen they said it is normal.

I have the same refrigerator and I found that the water tank had developed a leak at the point where the tubing connects to the tank.  The tank is located behind the crisper on the left hand side of the refrigerator.  The tank costs about $60 and it comes with a short section of tubing on the left side that connects easily to the reusable sharkbite tubing connector.  Just press in on the grey plastic piece where the tubing inserts and the tubing should slide out easily.  When installing the tank, just press the tubing into the connector.  To be sure that the tubing is in far enough give it a gentle tug;  if it pops out push it in farther.  As for the other side of the tank, there is a really long section of tubing that goes into the wall of the refrigerator section and goes Who-Knows-Where.  I figured it was a heck of a lot easier to cut the 5/16" tubing and buy a $5 sharkbite connector like they used on the other side of the tank.  Takes about half an hour.  Problem Solved!

Or so I thought.   A week later there was water on the floor again.  Turns out the drain in the freezer had frozen up due to all of the water that leaked down into the freezer section.   The drain is located behind the metal panel in the back of the freezer section.  To get it off you have to remove the door, shelves and icemaker.   It took about an hour to get them out, remove the accumulated ice (chipping and hair dryer) and clear the drain tube.  When tube finally starts to drain a little warm water will help clear out any remaining ice.  This goes ino a drain pan that gradually evaporates the water in it.  Since the tube was plugged it hasnt had any new water for a while, so you probably won't have to worry about it.

If you have an old fridge in the garage you can avoid the hassle of clearing the drain tube by just turning it off until everything melts.

Another hint, there is a button in the refrigerator to turn the cooling off while you work on it.  Press and hold it for at least 3 seconds.  Don't forget to turn it back on!
