Broken Remote And Poor Mileage

I am a 71 year old widow from Eugene, OR. In May 2012 I paid cash for a 2012 Kia Optima.  I was told that I would get between 37 and 42 Miles per gallon.  The best I have gotten in 27 MPG. Twice in the past two months I nave had to call roadside assistance.  The first time was when the car would not start. They foundsomething unplugged, under the front of the motor. This car is kept in a garage ALL of the time.  Yesterday I tried my remote to unlock the car and it would not work. When I inserted the key into the door lock the horn went off and I had to disconnect the battery.  The tow driver was able to get it drivable      Although he didn't know what he did to fix it.  It turned out that the remote has a small weld inside on a part to hold the batteries. I was told that I would have to pay $119. For a new remote.   I would think that would be under warranty for at least a year but this is not the case with Kia. I am very disappointed with the service I receive and will voice my opinion on Facebook and other places on the Internet.
