There are a few reasons why water might be going straight out of the drain hose of your Kenmore 4031 washer as fast as it goes in. Here are a few things to check:

The drain hose is clogged. This is the most common reason for water to drain slowly or not at all. To check the drain hose, disconnect it from the back of the washer and run water through it. If the water flows freely, then the hose is not clogged. If the water does not flow freely, then you will need to clear the clog.

The drain pump is not working properly. The drain pump is responsible for pumping water out of the washer. If the pump is not working properly, it will not be able to drain the water out of the washer. To check the drain pump, you can listen for it running when the washer is draining. If you do not hear the pump running, then it may be faulty and will need to be replaced.

The float switch is not working properly. The float switch is a sensor that tells the washer when to stop filling with water. If the float switch is not working properly, it may not be able to detect when the washer is full and will continue to fill with water. This can cause the water to back up and overflow out of the drain hose. To check the float switch, you can remove it from the washer and test it with a multimeter. If the float switch is not working properly, it will need to be replaced.

The water inlet hose is kinked or blocked. The water inlet hoses bring water into the washer. If the hoses are kinked or blocked, they will not be able to bring enough water into the washer and the water will not be able to drain properly. To check the water inlet hoses, inspect them for kinks or blockages. If you find any, you will need to replace the hoses.

If you have checked all of these things and the water is still draining slowly or not at all, then you may need to call a qualified technician to diagnose the problem.

If water is flowing straight out of the drain hose as quickly as it enters your Kenmore 4031 washing machine, there could be a few potential issues:
  1. Clog or Blockage: Check if there's a blockage or clog in the drain hose or the drain pipe it's connected to. Debris or lint buildup can restrict water flow.
  2. Drain Hose Height: Ensure that the drain hose is not positioned too low or too far into the drain pipe. It should be positioned at the correct height to create a proper siphon effect.
  3. Drain Pump Issue: The washing machine's drain pump may be malfunctioning, causing water to drain too quickly. You might need to inspect or replace the pump.
  4. Faulty Water Inlet Valve: If the water inlet valve is stuck open, it can allow water to enter the machine too quickly, making it difficult for the machine to drain properly.
  5. Drain Pipe Issues: There could be issues with the plumbing or the drain pipe itself, causing water to backflow.

If you're unsure about how to diagnose or fix these issues, it's recommended to consult the Kenmore 4031's user manual or consider seeking assistance from a professional appliance repair technician.
