Battery Recharging

Whenever I need to recharge the internal battery, The manual says the display on the unit should show the words charging completed but I have charged it for 16 hours and it keeps saying that it's still charging the battery. Isn't the unit supposed to stop charging the battery when it's done and display that too on the LCD screen. Will reseting the unit help or is it another problem?
