Insignia Ns-cd512 Off Timer / Sleep Mode Timer

Is there a pot adjustment for the off/sleep mode timer or is it fixed or software set? It's way too short, only about 5 minutes, and the unit constantly goes into sleep mode when I pause it. If it would recover from the sleep mode back to where it was it would not be too bad but it starts over from cd1 track 1.
