Problem With Ct3400 Thermostat

My ct3400 thermostat said to replace batteries, however changing the batteries, it still says "replace batteries" ?

Set the system switch to OFF. Remove batteries. Insert back-

ward for at least five seconds to reset thermostat. Replace

batteries correctly. Display should come on
