Start Up Issues
When my probook starts up the screen is just black with the cursor on it. What should I do to fix this? The power is on and everything is starting but the screen stays black.

It sounds like your laptop may have lost its O/S or the hard drive has failed. If you have a boot-able CD then attempt a boot from that to see if it is a hardware issue with the motherboard or the software on the hard drive is corrupt. Check that your hard drive is connected correctly into its housing if it is accessible from the outside. I have attached a link to HP which may give you additional help in diagnosing your problem. Try a reset of the PC by removing all the power from the PC by removing the battery and power supply, leave a few minutes and try again.
