Turning On A Wireless Network Adapter

Is there a software switch to turn on a wireless network adapter on an HP P6000 desktop?

It's done within the control panel. Step by step will vary depending on the operating system. You are looking for your device manager to first make sure the adapter is enable, then your network settings to make sure the connection is enabled.
