My Printer Suddenly Started Printing Black Boxes On Some Of My Documents. Why?

I don't have a complete answer; if in Print Preferences you change the setting from print graphics as Raster to Print Graphics as Vector, it MAY solve the problem (for example, in cells with a color background in Excel, or grayscale images in PDFs), but this can negatively affect other graphics, AND it doesn't work necessarily for graphics in a Word document or printing a document from the web. This seemed to begin (also on an HP 1320 printer) after a server (Windows) update a couple weeks ago).
