Dv9720us Cycles On And Off Repeatedly

Unit has performed perfectly for 2 + years. Suddenly it started cycling on and off over and over in appx a 3 second cycle. Research shows this to be a common problem for mutiple HP laptop. I person mentioned he was able to get into safe mode by removing the CMOS battery.I was successful using his suggestion, which enabled me to save wanted files.Left unit on for 2 days in this stage with no problem. After restoring to earlier time I rebooted, only to find unit once again stuck in loop mode ! Any suggestions?
