Need To Know How Much Ink I Have

Introduction This document provides steps for checking the estimated ink levels in the print cartridges. Checking ink levels Follow these steps to check the ink levels from the HP Printer Toolbox. NOTE:If a refilled or remanufactured print cartridge or a print cartridge that has been used in another printer is installed, the ink level indicator will be inaccurate or unavailable.

1. Follow these steps to open the Printer Toolbox. Click Start, click All Programs, click HP, and then click HP Solution Center. The HP Solution Center opens. Click Settings. Click Print Settings. Click Printer Toolbox. NOTE:The Printer Toolbox can also be opened from the Print Properties dialog box. In the Print Properties dialog box, select Printing Preferences, click theFeatures tab, and then click Printer Services.
2. Click the Estimated Ink Levels tab. Figure 1: Estimated ink levels NOTE:A print cartridge might be running out of ink even if the graphic shows that there is ink remaining in the print cartridge. Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the print cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink.

NOTE:Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low-ink levels, consider having a replacement cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. You do not need to replace cartridges until print quality becomes unacceptable.
