Why Won't Timer Shut Off Filter

Make sure the timer is set correctly. The timer should be set to the number of hours you want the filter to run each day. If it's not set correctly, the filter won't shut off when it's supposed to.
Check the filter pressure. If the filter pressure is too high, it can cause the timer to malfunction. To check the filter pressure, look at the pressure gauge on the filter. The pressure should be between 15 and 20 psi. If it's higher than that, you need to clean or backwash the filter.
Check the filter flow sensor. If the filter flow sensor is dirty or clogged, it can also cause the timer to malfunction. To check the filter flow sensor, look for a small plastic sensor on the filter housing. The sensor should be clean and free of debris. If it's dirty, clean it with a soft brush.
Check the filter timer. If the filter timer is defective, it will need to be replaced. To check the filter timer, try setting it to run for a short period of time, such as 15 minutes. If the filter doesn't shut off after 15 minutes, the timer is defective.
If you've checked all of the above and the timer is still not shutting off, you may need to contact Hayward customer support for further assistance.
Here are some additional tips for troubleshooting your Hayward E-Command 4 filter timer:
Make sure the filter is properly primed. If the filter is not primed, it will not run properly and the timer may not shut off. To prime the filter, turn it on and let it run until water comes out of the air bleeder valve on top of the filter.
Check the filter backwash valve. If the backwash valve is not closed properly, it can cause water to flow back into the filter and prevent the timer from shutting off. To check the backwash valve, make sure it is fully closed and that the handle is in the "filter" position.
Check the filter power cable. If the filter power cable is loose or damaged, it can cause the timer to malfunction. To check the power cable, make sure it is securely plugged into the filter and that there are no signs of damage.
