Leaking Water

The drain slot at the top centre of the unit is plugged with dirt. 

Remove the air filter and look under the sliver slotted box (cold condenser) there is a black water tray that may be full of water.  In the centre of the black tray there is a little well about 2 inch square (the one under the condenser)  There is a slot on the bottom of this drain that is about 2 in long by 3/8 wide.  Carefully suck the water and dirt from this slot (a small turkey baster should work fine) careful not to bend the small fins in the bottom of this slot.  Normally this slot feeds the water collected from the condenser to the heat exchanger below where it is sucked out with the hot air. However, if the slot gets dirty and plugged you end up with water everywhere and poor performance.  My son has this unit and had water leake all over but once we cleaned the slot it works fine.    I suggest cleaning this slot when you clean the air filter (every month or so).

There is also a drain under the evaporator. If the previous answer does not solve the problem you may need to clean that drain out as well. You will need to carefully remove the evaporator (4 screws hold it in place) and flush the drain with clean water. I used a baster, because it allowed me to suction up the dirty water. You should notice that the water will start to drain down after you clean it.

In addition to cleaning the 2-inch square water tray, it appeared that there was an accumulation of rust and oil in the tray that caused the water to become viscous and not drain through the plastic indention into the tray. We used a dremel to carve out a large drain hole as shown in the picture.
