I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing with your GMC Yukon. Frequent stalling, particularly when driving uphill, can be caused by several factors. While I can offer some general guidance, it's important to consult with a certified mechanic or an automotive specialist for a proper diagnosis and repair. They will be able to diagnose the specific cause of the stalling issue. Here are a few potential causes to consider:

1. Fuel delivery issues: Insufficient fuel supply or a clogged fuel filter can lead to stalling, especially when the engine is under increased load while going uphill. A mechanic can inspect the fuel system and ensure proper fuel delivery.

2. Ignition system problems: Faulty ignition components, such as a malfunctioning ignition coil, spark plugs, or spark plug wires, can cause misfires and stalling. Having the ignition system inspected and tested can help identify and resolve any issues.

3. Vacuum leaks: Leaks in the intake manifold or vacuum lines can disrupt the air-fuel mixture, causing stalling. A mechanic can perform a thorough inspection of the intake system and address any leaks.

4. Throttle body or sensor issues: A malfunctioning throttle body or throttle position sensor can affect engine performance, leading to stalling. Cleaning or replacing these components may resolve the problem.

5. Engine control module (ECM) issues: A faulty ECM might not be correctly regulating engine functions, which can result in stalling. A diagnostic scan can help identify any ECM-related issues.

It's important to stay vigilant when driving and prioritize your safety. I strongly recommend seeking professional assistance to diagnose and repair the stalling issue in your GMC Yukon. They will be able to provide accurate guidance and ensure your vehicle is working properly again.

I hope this is helpful? PLEASE "ACCEPT" and mark it "HELPFUL" to complement my little effort. Hope to bring you more detailed answers.

If your 2002 GMC Yukon is stalling while driving, especially when going uphill, there could be several potential causes. Here are some common issues to investigate:
  1. Fuel delivery problems: Insufficient fuel supply or a clogged fuel filter can cause stalling. Check the fuel filter for any blockages or restrictions, and consider replacing it if necessary. Also, inspect the fuel pump for proper function, as a failing pump may not deliver enough fuel under increased load.
  2. Ignition system issues: Faulty ignition components, such as a failing ignition coil or a malfunctioning ignition control module, can lead to stalling. Check the spark plugs, ignition wires, and ignition coil for any signs of wear or damage. Replace any faulty components as needed.
  3. Mass airflow sensor (MAF): A malfunctioning MAF sensor can disrupt the air-fuel mixture, leading to stalling. Clean or replace the MAF sensor according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
  4. Throttle position sensor (TPS): A faulty TPS can cause inconsistent throttle response, leading to stalling. Test the TPS using a multimeter or consult a professional mechanic to diagnose and replace it if necessary.
  5. Vacuum leaks: Vacuum leaks can disrupt the engine's air intake and cause stalling. Inspect the vacuum hoses and connections for any cracks, leaks, or loose fittings. Repair or replace damaged hoses as needed.
  6. Exhaust system issues: A restricted or clogged exhaust system can create backpressure and cause the engine to stall. Check for any obstructions or damage in the exhaust system, including the catalytic converter and muffler.
  7. Transmission problems: If the stalling occurs primarily when the vehicle is shifting gears or under load, there may be an issue with the transmission. Low transmission fluid, a failing torque converter, or other transmission-related problems can cause stalling. Check the transmission fluid level and condition, and consult a professional mechanic if necessary.

It's important to note that diagnosing and fixing vehicle issues can be complex, and it may require the expertise of a qualified mechanic. If you're unsure or uncomfortable performing these steps yourself, it's recommended to consult a professional technician who can diagnose the problem accurately and make the necessary repairs.
