Difference Between Engines..

So i am helping my good friend of mine to work on his trucks brake fluid to soon replace it. Then add new fluid. The model of his truck is a 2002 SLS GMC Sonoma. As I was reading this sites manual of the vehicle. It had stated, "If the motor is a Vortec v6 4400 or an L4 2200".Which leads me to contact you, to gain further knowledge of this for the future obstacles. And to be safe than sorry to ruin the vehicle. On my buddies truck, it is labeled SFI 2200 (v4) and not L4 (v4). What is the difference between the two motors? And if they require different service care than the other?Thank You, Tyler Clark
