Hi gmusgrove3 – The freezer may be experiencing some form of sealed system issue or a bad door seal. This can include the compressor not working correctly, the evaporator fan not turning, or even coolant in the lines are not at the correct levels to properly cool. If the compressor is running, humming, or even a little warm then that is typically normal. However if the compressor is running hot, then it is over working and the issue could be before the compressor in the evaporator fan, coil or coolant lines. Trying checking if the door seal is bad; place a dollar bill between the body of the freezer and close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet double check the door from closing then replace the gasket. If any proves to be ineffective, you would need to contact your manufacturer and then a professional to move forward accurately.
