Can I Disconnect The Dryer Of The Laundry Center And Use The Washer Machine Only

Yesterday I tried to use our washer machine, but after  several minutes it turned off and there was this funny burning smell coming from the inner side of the control panel. I disassembled the  panel and found a loosen wire  on the left side (drye'r control panel). Apparently a small  copper plaque that enables plugging the wire to the electronic device broke up, thus I have not been able to determine where is the cable to be connected. I have always only used the "Air Fluff/No heat" option as the dryer was never properly installed to gas.  I cannot afford repairing the machine currently.  Can I just disconnect all the wires of the dryer's inner control panel and keep on using the washer machine only, without risking further damage? I NEED URGENT ADVICE PLEASE!!!  THANK YOU.  Photos enclosed.
