How Do I Stop Sending Emails That I Didnt Send Out

I think there is a virus and people on my friends list are telling me that I sent them an email, which are viruses!! how can I stop this

I had this problem , the spam was going out every two weeks like clockwork. I deleted my address book. It stopped and hasnt resumed for 3 months
