Can I Post Something To My Wall Without Changing My Status, Too?

I want to be able to post a note to my wall that everyone can see that will NOT change my status, too. I want my status to stay the same but I want the new post to show up in my wall... why can't I do this?

just write the note in your status box but in last give any link with your note any link google.com/your website link then it will be posted in your links tab and wil show on your wall but not change your status.
