How Do I Stop My E-mail Inbox From Being Flooded By Facebook Notifications?

I've been flooded with over 300 notifications in less than 1 hr of being on-line. I have tried to unsubscribe several times, the problem just gets worse, they're harder to get rid of than the crabs, for god's sake
