Paper Jam When There No Paper In It
why is the printer saying paper jam when there no paper in it.

Lots of odd things can cause a paper jam error. Take a look at the Epson site where support and troubleshooting info are available.

I had the same error message on my WF 845. The solution was the wire on the ADF motor was pinched and it broke. That is why the error would come and go. The hinge on the scanner, left side, acts as a hinge and a conduit for the wires for the ADF motor and such. Poor design. I hope this will help.

I took mine apart and I believe it is the hall effect device that's located on the main board. right side while looking at the back of the printer. there's a black plastic piece that is an odd shaped 2" long arm that moves when the paper feeder starts to turn and grab a sheet. The black arm has a set of fins that stick out and will pass through the hall effect device signalling the movement of the paper feeder. i think the hall effect devices are bad. this printer is nearly brand new and it's the only thing that this piece of crap has mounted anyplace to sense paper. there's no other sensor or LED set up that is normally located in the rear to see a clear shot to detect paper. I just started looking into it to see if there are any service manuals available to find out about the hall effect and get a schematic of the board but so far nothing has turned up. I'm going to manually move something through the hall effect and see if i can get the paper jam to go away. the hall effect may no be functional and I'll replace it with another if need be.
That's what i have so far i will return with completed results of a smashed printer , I need to fix this today the printer has been sold and it was working perfectly when I listed it for sale. now i tested it just before I was going to ship it and have a constant error. I have too many other items to ship to spend time on this one so i may not be able to get it going today but I'll return with a definite answer and some pictures.
