11880 Ethernet Direct To Mac Pro
I would like to use an extra long ethernet connection between my Mac Pro and my 11880. Can I hook these up directly? How to do?

The maximum length of an Ethernet cable is spec'd at 300 feet. You can push that with repeaters and very high quality cable but it starts getting unreliable.
To connect any 2 systems together there must be a switch or hub between them. If not you must use a rolled cable. The rolled cable rotates the transmit and receive wires on one end. Many newer systems are auto-sensing and don't care about a rolled cable.
